Mayor calls for reduction in road humps
Boris Johnson has called for Local councils in London to scrap speed bumps.
Many motorists are known to dislike the bumps - which are designed to calm traffic - and the capital's mayor insisted it is time to start listening to what the public wants.
Mr Johnson insisted the bumps were a "lazy way" of trying to force drivers to slow down and said he was "making a stand" on the issue.
He has urged the London boroughs to consider alternative measures, even if they are more expensive.
Additional funding could be made available by Transport for London to councils which agree to rethink plans to use speed bumps.
Mr Johnson has also been busy promoting the cause of cycling in the capital this week.
The Conservative politician, who is a keen cyclist, revealed details of a bicycle hire scheme intended to come into force in the zone one travel area in 2010.
