Love London Festival in full swing
Residents in the capital have been enjoying this month's green-themed Love London Festival, which runs until June 21st.
Coinciding with the recent World Environment day, the festival is intended to galvanise support among residents for making the city cleaner, greener and an all-round healthier place to live.
The organiser's main goal is to make the capital a sustainable urban centre in time for the 2012 Olympics - mindful of the public relations disaster that has befallen Beijing's smog-ridden roads.
Among the events that have already taken place are the Glades Goes Green week in the London borough of Bromley and a special exhibition by sculptor Anthony Wilson, whose work is all made of recyclable materials.
A series of children's activities has also been held in Forest Hill, in the London borough of Lewisham, with youngsters learning about environmental issues in an enjoyable, light-hearted manner.
Commenting on the success of the festival so far, London mayor Boris Johnsons said: "Well done to Love London for putting on this fantastic festival to encourage fun, easy ways to make our capital a greener and cleaner place."
