Londoners 'planning home improvements'
While the UK is now officially out of recession, many Britons may still be keen to keep a tight reign on their spending, which could mean any plans they have to buy a new home are on the backburner.
In light of this, homeowners may be considering giving their existing property a makeover to better suit their needs and rental tenants may wish to find out if they can do the same.
Those looking for flats to rent in Hammersmith or another part of London may wish to ask their landlord if it is possible to decorate their new home to their own tastes.
Should decorating not be allowed, they may still be able to put their own stamp on it by creating space through the addition of shelves or by hanging their own artwork or curtains.
According to recent research from Aspect Maintenance, 70 per cent of people living in London plan to improve their home in the next year.
Speaking at the Totally DIY show at the Birmingham NEC, Matthew Piner, retail analyst at Verdict Research, said there has been a long-term trend in the popularity of lighting and homeware when it comes to DIY, which may be things renters wish to consider.
