London parks to be selected for improvement
People living across London are set to benefit from funding to improve parks.
Ten are to be chosen to receive a share of £6 million, with the public being invited to vote for the 47 shortlisted areas.
Organisers of the Help a London Park programme have divided them up into five regions, with two from each being selected in order to ensure the money is distributed across the capital.
Each of the winners will receive up to £400,000, with the remaining £2 million being allocated to one large park by the mayor - Boris Johnson.
Commenting on the scheme, he said: "This investment will make the capital's open spaces cleaner, safer, greener and more enjoyable places for Londoners to use."
This week a study by Halifax suggested that Bromley is the London borough with the highest quality of life, due to its high standards of education, healthcare and environment.
