Kingston-upon-Thames has lowest crime rate in London
The borough of Kingston-upon-Thames has the lowest crime rate in London, new police technology has revealed.
The Metropolitan Police's new online crime map allows web-users to view the amount of crime in each of the 32 London boroughs.
The map shows that during July this year, there were only 139 burglaries, robberies and vehicle thefts in the South-West London borough. This is in stark contrast to Westminster Borough, which experienced 689 of these crimes during the same period.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "Crime mapping puts information into the hands of every London citizen about the levels of crimes as well as contact details of their local police officers."
The news is expected to come as a pleasant surprise to those looking to rent a property in the capital, with these statistics giving renters another reason to choose Kingston-upon-Thames as their new home.
The area also offers an impressive selection of bars and restaurants, as well as a respected university and excellent transport links to the City.
