Kensington and Chelsea residents 'boast longest life expectancy'
People living in the London boroughs of Kensington and Chelsea can expect to live longer than the national average life expectancy, new research has revealed.
The annual Focus on London report indicated that male residents of the two boroughs live to an average age of 83.7 and women to the age of 87, compared to the England averages of 77.7 and 81.1 years, respectively.
People living in the capital - including those renting London property - are less inclined to move elsewhere in the UK during the recession, the statistics revealed, with the number of people leaving the city decreasing by nearly one-half since 2004.
Earlier this month, the 2008-09 Place Survey noted that people living in properties in Kensington and Chelsea are among the most satisfied with their local area in the UK.
It noted that 72.2 per cent of residents in the royal borough are pleased with their region - the third-highest level of satisfaction in Britain.
However, councillor Merrick Cockell said the satisfaction survey offers "no room for complacency" and the borough is looking to improve services for its residents suring difficult economic times.
