Johnson pledges £3m for London Greenways
People looking for property to rent in London are being told that more foot and cycle paths are to be built around the city after Mayor Boris Johnson promised £3 million to their development.
The Greenways scheme is an attempt by the Greater London Authority to make the capital greener and cleaner - with a wider funding commitment of £220 million over the next three years, geared at improving the condition of streets and local areas.
At the opening of one path in Beckenham, Lewisham mayor Sir Steve Bullock said: "This new cycling route is not just a great addition to this wonderful park but also to the extensive network of cycling routes right across the borough."
In addition, a cycle hire scheme will be introduced at the end of next month, to enable Londoners to get around, ideally, without needing to use a car.
News of investment in greener transport infrastructure combined with a cycle hire scheme set to begin on July 30th may encourage more people to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Lewisham or elsewhere in the city.
