How to 'hit back' at energy companies
In recent weeks, many of the UK's largest energy suppliers have released their financial results and this news has kick-started "outrage" among many consumers, according to one newspaper.
This is because, while many Britons are struggling to pay their energy bills following one of the coldest winters in decades, many such groups have revealed they have seen their profits increase, the Daily Mail reports.
And this is despite the news that the wholesale costs of gas and electricity has declined, meaning savings are not being passed on to customers.
Ad a result, the newspaper is urging Britons to "hit back" against utility providers by taking steps such as switching suppliers, considering any new firms and the deals they could be offering and seeking a dual-fuel deal.
In addition, the article recommends going online to pay by direct debit and considering a fixed rate tariff, along with taking advantage of funds such as the boiler scrappage campaign.
Britons looking for flats to rent in Shoreditch or elsewhere in London may find they have more money left over each month than if they bought a home in the same area.
This may particularly be the case after the Land Registry revealed that average price of a London property in January was £336,212.
