How tenants can avoid frozen pipes
Spring appears to finally be settling in, which may be welcome news to Londoners fed up with what has proven to be the coldest winter in the UK in some 30 years.
Indeed, with snow falling across much of the city, simply getting to work each morning became a trial for many.
However, a more concerning outcome of the cold may have been an increase in the number of people suffering from frozen pipes, which can cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to homes when they burst.
As a result, Paragon is urging landlords and tenants to take whatever precautionary steps are necessary to prevent this from happening.
The company spoke to Redbrick Landlords, which advised tenants to leave their central heating on for set periods throughout the day and night to ensure pipes remain at a constant temperature.
Meanwhile, knowing where the water stop tap is in the event the pipes do freeze is also important to keep damage to a minimum, while monitoring the weather forecast could give tenants a heads up on whether their pipes may be at risk.
Britons looking for flats to rent in the London borough of Kensington and Chelsea or elsewhere in the capital may enjoy the peace of mind that should something go wrong, such as a burst pipe, their landlord is likely to foot the bill for repairs.
