Help and advice for tenants 'vital'
Britons are continuing to struggle when it comes to the affordability of housing, as the UK emerges from the recession.
According to recent research from the Association of Residential Letting Agents, 55 per cent of members have seen an increase in the number of tenants struggling to pay their rent.
However, this is a decrease on the previous quarter's figures, with unemployment believed to be the driving force behind rental arrears.
Sarah Webb, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, said advisors at the institute are already working with a large number of affordable housing providers in order to develop initiatives.
It is hoped such proposals will benefit the most vulnerable and low-income households in the UK.
Such news may offer peace of mind to Britons currently looking for flats to rent in Shoreditch or another part of London.
"Help and advice for tenants who are struggling with their finances is vital," Ms Webb stated.
Consumers who feel they may struggle to pay their rent should get in touch with their landlord as early as possible in order to come up with a solution.
