Hackney given royal approval
Although she does not live in property in Hackney, the Duchess of Cornwall has shown her support for the borough.
During a recent visit to North-East London, the wife of heir to the throne Prince Charles sported an "I Love Hackney" badge.
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales was issued with a borough crest and badge ahead of the pair's visit to Hackney City Farm.
The memorabilia was presented to the royals by councillor Ian Rathbone, speaker of Hackney, who said he was "surprised and pleased" with the events of the day.
"I said to them that they were special people - the Prince has supported various Hackney initiatives including the refurbishment of the Hackney Empire," he explained. "It was good to see that the Duchess was showing her support in front of the world's media."
Hackney is one of the areas due for some degree of regeneration ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in England's capital city, which may provide those looking for houses to rent in London with another reason to choose the borough as a place to live.
