Greenwich Olympic venue 'to be confirmed'
Confirmation that the 2012 Olympic equestrian events will be held in Greenwich Park is expected to come today, it has been claimed.
Accountancy firm KPMG has presented a report to the Olympic board today which states that moving the venue to a location like Badminton or Hickstead would cost more than keeping it in the south-east of the capital, the Evening Standard reports.
The report suggested that it will also be recommended that the basketball arena remains in the park.
While no official announcement has yet come from the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), confirmation that Greenwich is to host 2012 events could mean more facilities and development being attracted to the borough, something that may benefit those who rent a house or flat there.
Last week the ODA announced that the first steel supports for the stands in the main Olympic stadium in Stratford have been put in place.
