'Forget loyalty' for a better deal
With the January sales now well underway, consumers have been advised not to automatically be loyal to their current financial service provider when looking for the best monetary deals.
David Black, banking specialist at Defaqto, said just because a bank or building society is providing a good offer does not mean it cannot be found cheaper elsewhere.
"With credit cards, if you have a good credit rating, and with savings, if you have got some savings to invest, you're much better off not being loyal to anyone, because of all the introductory offers around," he added.
The same could be true for mortgage loans, although people currently finding it difficult to save for a deposit and secure a mortgage may instead wish to consider renting.
Choosing property to rent in Blackheath or elsewhere in London could give consumers time to save to buy their dream home, while also allowing them to enjoy everything the city has to offer.
Lucian Cook, director of residential research at Savills, recently warned consumers against relying on their credit card to pay for their rent or mortgage.
