Flats to rent in London 'may be cheaper following house price rises'
More people could be encouraged to look at flats to rent in the London borough of Havering when they see the latest figures from the Land Registry.
The July House Price Index has revealed properties in England and Wales will now set people back £166,798, which is an annual increase of 6.7 per cent.
London experienced higher price rises than the rest of the country with 12.1 per cent annual growth, which could make renting a home in the capital even more appealing.
Overall, the cost of purchasing went up in nine regions, with the value of dwellings in the south-west seeing a monthly rise of 2.2 per cent.
In the north-east, property prices experienced an annual decline of 1.4 per cent.
Jacqui Daly, director of research at Savills, recently claimed she does not expect house buying activity to pick up in the UK due to limitations in the mortgage market.
