Election must not hold back private rented sector
Britain's leading voice on residential letting has called on political parties not to use the upcoming general election as an excuse.
A spokesman for the National Approved Letting Scheme said regulations such be "soft touch" as the private investor and the private rented sector are of high importance to the UK property market.
He added: "The government must be very careful not to put any obstacles in the way of investment into the private rented sector. Without a flourishing private rented sector it could drive house prices further than they would like."
The Association of Residential Letting Agents has called for a "clawback" on stamp duty for older property.
Many UK media outlets are reporting the big move on stamp duty in today's Budget (March 24th) will be on any property valued under £250,000.
Large investors such as Aviva and Legal & General have already signalled an interest in possible multi-billion pound rented housing schemes in the UK.
Supposing the government does help landlords improve older houses, this could an advantage to people looking for property to rent in the London borough of Haringey, or elsewhere in London and the UK.
