DLR station reopens ahead of schedule
A new and improved Tower Gateway Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station opened today, two months earlier than originally planned.
The station - which has been closed for eight months - now boasts a horseshoe platform, making it quicker and easier for passengers to embark and disembark, as well as improved canopies to protect rail users from adverse weather conditions.
Furthermore, three-car trains will be able to operate from Tower Gateway by 2010 following work completed on the platforms and tracks.
Director of DLR Jonathan Fox stated: "Our new look Tower Gateway station includes many benefits for passengers and I am confident they will be impressed by its improved facilities and better accessibility."
Mayor of London Boris Johnson praised everyone involved in the project.
Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Transport for London is working with the Home Office to tackle transport crimes in some of the capital's boroughs.
