Crystal Palace boasts safety credentials
The Crystal Palace area has been given a boost by news that its community defenders were named the joint winners of the Metropolitan Police's award for Best Safer Neighbourhood Team 2007.
The Crystal Palace Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) shared the honours with the Hackney team, with both set to receive formal recognition from Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair next month.
Property for sale and rental in the Crystal Palace area of South London is likely to come under higher demand as people seek a part of the neighbourhood security and community spirit shown by the local SNT.
NewsShopper.co.uk said that the team had been singled out for commendation after successfully identifying and targeting individuals in the Crystal Palace area and the Bromley borough who were responsible for disruptive anti-social behaviour.
The site reported the comments of chief inspector Marshall Kent, at the head of Bromley's Safer Neighbourhoods teams, who explained: "The team have taken the process of community engagement and prioritising local issues to the next level."
The Crystal Palace area was given a further boost recently, with plans unveiled for turning the disused historic palace site into a large car park to serve local events.
