Crime falls in borough
The London borough of Redbridge has seen a fall in crime, it has been reported.
New figures published on the council's website show that all crime has fallen by 13 per cent in the past year.
Details of crime categories show that violent crime was down 11 per cent, retail theft dropped 20 per cent, car crime declined by 24 per cent and there was a one-third reduction in racial incidents.
Such figures may prompt some to consider renting a flat or house in Redbridge.
According to the Metropolitan Police Crime Map, the lowest rate of crime per borough in North London is in Harrow.
Meanwhile, London Councils - the body that represents the 32 local authorities in the capital - has announced that local council leaders have backed a plan they believe will increase police accountability.
The proposals in the plan will include police commanders being involved with council management teams and boroughs playing a part in the recruitment of local police heads.
