Councils urged to follow Westminster green car lead
London boroughs have been urged to take steps to reduce emissions by encouraging the use of environmentally-friendly cars.
Incentives are being provided in Westminster, where the city council has offered free parking on-road and in the council's car parks.
Electric car users pay an annual administration fee of £200, while 60 re-charging points have also been placed around the borough.
And London-based NICE Car Company has called on others to follow suit, with co-founder Julian Wilford stating: "As more Londoners switch on to the financial and environmental benefits of electric cars it's important that concessions in one borough match those in another."
Those choosing to rent a house a flat in Westminster could be set to benefit as a result of the reduced emissions likely to come from the city's cars.
Camden Council recently announced that it was taking steps to reduce reliance on fossil fuels by installing a bio-gas refuelling station for its vehicles.
