Council praises transport plans
The mayor of London's plans to improve the transport system in the capital have been met with approval by Hounslow Council.
In a ten-year business plan unveiled by Boris Johnson, London's Tube network, crossrail and over-ground services will all be upgraded.
Under the scheme, local London boroughs will have a greater opportunity to provide local transport solutions.
The programme has been praised by Hounslow Council, including councillor Barbara Reid - the lead member for the environment - who said she was "pleased" that transport was being treated as an important issue.
She commented: "The Mayor's plans support our ambition to keep improving and promoting public transport in the borough."
"The council is committed to improving local roads and promoting greener travel across the borough," she added.
When he announced his vision for London's transport system, Mr Johnson said he was aiming to improve Londoners' quality of life and vowed to invest "billions" to achieve this.
