Could Londoners charge cars at home?
As Britons become increasingly concerned about what their impact on the environment will mean for future generations, they could be set to get a helping hand in going green from the government.
Under recent proposals made by Housing and Planning Minister John Healey, people who have purchased an electric car in order to reduce their carbon emissions may be able to fit car charger points on streets, while councils will also be able to install them in car parks, without the need for planning permission.
Such a feature may attract green-minded Britons to flats to rent in Islington and other parts of London which boast a charger.
Although people renting in the capital could also find that there is plenty in terms of public transport services to ensure that they can leave their car at home and lessen their negative impact on the environment.
Mr Healey's proposals are now under consultation.
"The people who want to greenproof their homes should get a helping hand, not a stop sign [...] not only could this save up to hundreds of pounds in fuel bills, they will also help the environment," he said.
