Clapham renowned for 'village-like atmosphere'
An esteemed writer for the Times website has praised the South London suburb of Clapham for its "village-like atmosphere".
Located in the London borough of Lambeth, Clapham is predominantly known for its common - one of the capital's biggest green spaces - and its never ending selection of bars and quaint eateries.
Clapham has long been a popular choice with renters due to its excellent transport links with the City and modest property rates.
Paula Hawkins, writing for the Times Online, said: "Plenty of green spaces, large houses and decent schools make the area popular with young families, while the bars and restaurants are a magnet for twentysomethings."
The common is also the site of several popular summer music festivals such as Get Loaded in the Park and Ben and Jerry's Sundae festival, while the area also has one of the capital's best independent cinemas, the Clapham Picture House.
Clapham is connected to the City via the London Underground's Northern Line, while Victoria and London Bridge stations can be accessed via Clapham High Street and Clapham Junction rail stations.
