Charter not welcomed by landlord groups
A government charter that is considering moving houses in multiple occupation (HMO) out of residential areas has not been welcomed by a number of property organisations.
The National Landlords Association, the Residential Landlords Association and the British Property Federation all oppose proposals from politicians to revamp the HMO sector.
Pressure group the National Union of Students (NUS), which will see a number of its members affected by any potential developments in this area of the housing industry, has also called for the plans to be halted.

Complaints about litter, noise and towns becoming empty during holiday periods are reasons for the action, but developments could have a negative effect on immigrants and poorer society members, as well as university-goers.
Wes Streeting, president of the NUS, said: "These proposals would marginalise students by forcing them to pay private companies to live in large ghettos away from the rest of the community."
