Buy-to-let regulations 'a concern for landlords'
Mortgage repayments and regulations are among the top concerns of landlords going into the new year, new research has revealed.
According to a study by Paragon Mortgages, 58 per cent of landlords said they were worried about the level of regulation required in relation to the running of their property business this year.
Commenting on the news, Alan Ward, chairman of the Residential Landlords Association, noted it was not just the volume of regulation that was causing concern but also how it is applied.
"To enable local authorities to achieve the targets set by government, they have harassed the generally well-meaning majority of landlords who are just the low hanging fruit for box ticking bureaucrats," he explained.
However, such guidance may bring comfort to people looking for property to rent in Islington or elsewhere in London who wish to ensure their rights are protected.
Mr Ward went on to assert some landlords are also worried about mortgage repayments this year.
However, Upad.co.uk reported this month 64 per cent of UK landlords felt more confident about the buy-to-let market than they did in the previous month.
