Bigger landlord firms 'provide reliable service'
If bigger property rental institutions squeeze out smaller private landlords, tenants of property to rent in Docklands and flats to rent in Eltham - as well as residents of other rented homes across the UK - will receive a more reliable service.
That is the view of Stuart Law, chief executive and founder of property investment adviser group Assetz.
He said that tenants generally do not know what they are going to get with private landlords, unless they have been customers of theirs before.
With larger landlord groups, tenants should in theory "get what it says on the tin, so their deposit will be safe, they will get a good repair job if something breaks and they will get consistency".
Mr Law added that further regulation of the industry will help private landlords compete with their larger counterparts in the buy-to-let sector.
Letting Agents and other property professionals are set to come under closer scrutiny in the coming months after the government announced it was set to raise standards in the rented housing industry.
