Army invites Hounslow shoppers to drive tanks
Shoppers in the London borough of Hounslow will soon be able to test drive a virtual tank.
The Ministry of Defence has announced that it will be hosting its first ever Army show rooms in the capital, with activities including the use of the same simulators that soldiers use in training.
Colonel Paul Meldon explained that the aim is to educate the public about the role of the Army.
"No question will be avoided and the full range of Army activities will be on show so that the public can 'touch the green' in a way that has never been tried before," he said.
The first show room is to be held in Dalston, Hackney, from Saturday March 14th, with Hounslow the location of the second a short time later.
Last week the government announced that Hounslow is one of eight local authorities in England to benefit from new road safety funding, with up to £284,000 of the £3.6 million total being awarded.
