Active council 'making Lambeth better'
Rental property-seekers have been given a host of reasons to set up in the Lambeth area by a rapidly improving local council.
Citing enhanced levels of street cleanliness, action against crime, environmental protection and housing availability, the Lambeth Council was named London's most-improved borough administrator by the Audit Commission.
And property in up-and-coming neighbourhoods such as Brixton, Vauxhall, Clapham and Streatham could soon be in greater demand – with locals now benefiting from council services that jumped from a one star to a three star rating within the space of a year.
Steve Reed, leader of Lambeth Council, said: "Moving up from one star to three stars is evidence that we're now focusing on the things that matter most to residents, including quality services, value for money, and action on crime and climate change.
"Lambeth is now the fastest improving council in London and is in the upper performance bands nationally for the first time ever - that's the result of real teamwork right across the organisation."
Among the borough's highest achievements were an increase of seven per cent in library visitor numbers and a housing benefits performance ranking among the best in the country.
