Transport boost for Harrow
Harrow is likely to benefit from improved transport services in the coming years following the receipt of extra funding announced by Transport for London (TFL).
The council is set to be awarded just over £5 million from TFL to make improvements to the public transport service in the borough over the course of the next year, as well as boost road safety so that more residents are encouraged to walk or cycle, the Harrow Observer reports.
Bus routes are to be overhauled and cycle lanes and training are to be given more funding, while new pedestrian crossings and paths will also be put in place.
Meanwhile, Camden is another London borough to receive an increase in funding.
TFL announced that the area will receive £6.5 million in 2009-10, with Mayor Boris Johnson stating that the "quality of life" in Camden will be improved as a result.
