Property in Camden down by most of all boroughs, figures show

The price of property in Camden fell by more than any other London borough in February, it has been revealed.

Land Registry figures showed houses and flats in the area to have declined by a total of 4.3 per cent, contributing to an overall drop of 16 per cent over the course of the year.

property to rent in Camden may become a more popular choice as a result, as the decrease in values could lead to the possibility of negative equity.

London as a whole experienced a drop of 1.9 per cent - with prices down 15.6 per cent over the course of the year - and as a result, the Land Registry revealed that values in the capital are now at a similar level to those of August 2006.

Paul Holmes, chief executive of first-time buyer specialist Firstrung, recently warned that the property market is likely to continue to struggle "for a long time".
