Kensington brightened up
Residents of property to rent in Kensington could be among the beneficiaries of some expert gardening by the community's schoolchildren.
Anyone living in property to rent in Kensington near the St Mary Abbots School will be able to see the newly-planted flowerbeds, which make up part of the local council's 2009 In Bloom project.
The youngsters, who are in their third year at the primary school, designed the flowerbeds themselves.
Councillor Nick Paget-Brown, cabinet member for environmental management and leisure, said: "It is great to see that the children made such an effort to come up with some very innovative garden designs."
They should take pride in their work, he added, especially as the garden matures.
Councils across London, including Islington and Camden, are also involved in their own In Bloom campaigns. Each local authority calls on local residents to help contribute to various projects that have been planned to brighten up the city.
