Area Comments
Very diverse, energetic and full of good houses, Wembley gives excellent access into the north and west. Undergoing huge redevelopment generally, as the renewal spearheaded by the redevelopment of the Stadium and Arena area.
Wembley is a great favourite for families, with its relatively low prices and cost of living, and good-sized houses. There are huge numbers of schools in the area, catering to all ages, and excellent walks and nature trails in the Barn Hill/Fryent Country Park area, a favourite local open space.
The area is home to a huge retail and commercial zone which is centred on the stadium, but which branches out offering a huge range of retail areas, as well as homes for loads of businesses. It's also the location of the area's Sunday market. The Stadium/Arena area are possibly the biggest attraction of the area, and the redevelopment is spilling out into the Wembley vicinity more generally and the area is becoming, if not gentrified exactly, hugely positive and forward-facing, with its many different cultures re-energised and progressive.
The area specialises, like many of those around here, in 20th century family homes, which here are mostly 1930s semis and detached houses. Styles are widely divergent, with lots of different architectural influences. Modern apartments are also available here, as well as the odd converted maisonette. But mostly, 1930s houses featuring good living space and gardens and occasional offstreet parking, are the norm.
Wembley isn't simply about the stadium - but the facilities that the complex and the estates around it offer are a vast economic and social benefit to the area, and have become the catalyst for change, improvement and gentrification.
