Area Comments
It's the garden suburb of the Northwest of London, and though it sits right next to the busy Edgware Road and the even busier North Circular, Kingsbury is quiet, placid and offers great housing at competitive prices.
An area which is very popular - and becoming more so - with families who want access and space (always a difficult combo in London), Kingsbury is highly multicultural. Its high street is good for shopping, offering some fine local retailers and a few bigger brands - and it's within a few minutes of Brent Cross if you're looking for a wider range of shops. Eating and drinking needs are served by a good range of restaurants and a few popular locals and bars.
Green space is big here, Kingsbury borders the lovely, virtually unknown outside of the area, Fryent Country Park (a huge area of fields and woods in which you can easily think you're in the middle of the country), as well as the neat little Kingsbury Green and Jubilee Park. There are also excellent state and selective schools around here, and it's particularly known for primary care and playgroups as well.
Housing here is large, gardens are excellent, and most of the streets - certainly off the main roads - are very quiet. Rows and rows of wooded streets roam up the hill towards Fryent - and properties around the park are of course the most desirable. These are houses in the neo-Georgian and 1930s styles, in the main, some semis, and some detached. However, for the bigger wallet, there are some very large houses in semi-private roads found in the vicinity of the park.
Excellent open spaces, good-sized houses with big rooms and gardens, and good local resources and schools make Kingsbury a good bet for families.
